Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego Launches an Updated Drupal-Based Website
With two locations, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) is the region’s foremost forum devoted to the exploration and presentation of the art of our time, presenting works across all media created since 1950. Located in the heart of downtown San Diego and in the coastal community of La Jolla, MCASD provides an unprecedented variety of exhibition spaces and experiences for the community, showcasing an internationally recognized collection and a dynamic schedule of exhibitions and public programs.
The task for the Teneleven crew was to overhaul the inner-workings of MCASD’s website. The new platform needed to help MCASD cultivate their online community and give them the flexibility to focus on creative expression rather than getting mired in technical tasks. The infrastructure also needed to provide the ability to create more custom content around exhibitions, artwork and artists. And while we were at it, all the e-commerce systems were updated, enhanced and integrated.
In addition to re-thinking the back-end user experience, Teneleven was tasked with updating the website with the today’s best practices. Most notably, Teneleven added a dock at the bottom of the page to give users omnipresent access to the primary "Calls to Action" Social, Support, Ticketing and Shopping. All page templates were made more consistent, navigation was modernized, with a focus on better use of video and imagery, etc. All of these additions, of course, needed to update and enhance the website, not complicate and clutter.
With careful planning and a lot of hard work, Teneleven provided an expertly tailored platform for this one of a kind non-profit organization.
